Broad Capabilities With a Singular Focus

KBW’s Fixed Income Group conducts sales and trading operations in New York City with sales branches in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Hartford and San Francisco. We trade and underwrite the full range of fixed income securities, including mortgage-backed securities (MBS), U.S. Treasury and Federal Agency securities, the full range of corporate bonds – including those issued by banks, insurance companies, REITs and finance companies – and individual and pooled trust preferred securities (e.g. PreTSLs). Clients rely on our ability to marshal the firm's full capabilities to create customized capital structure, funding structure and balance sheet solutions, facilitating effective asset/liability management for banks and other financial institutions.

A Strong Presence in Debt Issuance

The KBW Debt Syndicate & Capital Markets team works in concert with the firm’s Corporate Finance department to provide financing for merger and acquisition activity, balance sheet restructuring and capital raising. The firm uses its capital to trade the full range of debt securities with the broadest possible universe of investors, and then supports these deals with secondary trading enhanced by the firm’s highly regarded credit research capabilities. KBW has now sourced and placed over $20 billion of PreTSLs with our partner to serve the capital needs of over 1,000 banks and insurance companies.

Bank Balance Sheet Management

Our Balance Sheet Management Group provides portfolio optimization, asset disposition, and income enhancement strategies for a wide range of securities and loan types held by financial institutions, within an appropriate asset/liability framework. We evaluate our clients' funding exposure, cash flow and interest rate risk using a broad array of analytical tools, coordinating as needed with KBW Investment Banking and Capital Markets on specific client goals.
