Tom Michaud has spent the last 25 years at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. He was named as Chief Executive Officer and President in October 2011, having served as Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer since September 2001. Tom remains Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In 2004, Tom led KBW’s successful expansion into Europe, establishing a true international research, sales and trading franchise. He also was instrumental in KBW's expansion into Asia in 2010.
Prior to being appointed CEO and President, under Tom's leadership, KBW became one of the top traders and brokers of financial services stocks and developed an industry leading research effort. KBW has also emerged as the leading manager of small, mid and large cap equity offerings in the financial services sector.
Before being named Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Tom was Director of Equity Sales and Executive Vice President. While leading this group, KBW’s equity commission business grew by more than 25% per year, far outpacing the industry average. He also helped oversee KBW’s transition from a bank-only boutique to a financial services specialist, adding insurance, brokerage and asset management practices.
Mr. Michaud earned a B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors of the Greenwich, Connecticut chapter of The American Red Cross and the Foreign Policy Association Board of Directors.
